Akhentepi's Tomb

The current Pharaoh of Osirion, Khemet III, has opened a major necropolis in the city of Wati to explorers throughout the Inner Sea Region. This has brought adventurers from as far as Magnimar to the riverside city located along the banks of the River Sphinx. The necropolis explorers were awarded certain burial sites through a lottery system held by the Grand Mausoleum, a great temple dedicated to the goddess Pharasma. This lottery brought a gnome archaeologist named Hallnar from the city of Sothis and a beautiful human woman named Aiuxanae, from Kaer Maga, to Wati on the Sun Disk Charter ferry. They spoke briefly but became fast allies when a street gang attempted to kill one of Hallnar’s contacts named Boki, a knowledgeable Ratfolk scholar who rode in a backpack carried by an Ifrit known as Narmer. Though Narmer was heavily wounded Boki went unscathed and Hallnar and Aiuxanae had questions about why the gang attacked Narmer only to hear the dying gasp of one of the attackers say, “Curses upon you Narmer! None escape the Sons of Seth alive, not even you!”. After a quick pat down for clues and gold the group was confronted by a temporary blotting of the sun in the form of blackened wings on a very tall humanoid figure who flew down from a strategic post on a nearby building to beckon the group to get out of there as the city guard was on its way. Making haste the group found solace in the Sunburst Market where the Strix introduced himself as Horus and let the group know that he had been watching this gang for a couple of days. Hallnar confirmed with Boki that the lottery for necropolis exploration would take place within three hours and registration to explore the necropolis meant that each adventuring party needed a name. After Narmer’s wound, which could have proved fatal, healed through use of a potion the group felt an appropriate name for exploring tombs and risking their lives would be The Bones Brigade. The name was submitted to an acolyte of Pharasma and oddly enough a skull and bones shaped token was handed not only to them but to all groups exploring the necropolis. After Boki gave a rundown on Wati’s history Sebti the Crocodile presented all adventuring parties with the same information and let the lottery commence. The Bones Brigade was called and the site they would explore was Akhentepi’s Tomb. Sebti the Crocodile requested the party to bring full details of the site if they returned. If not, the Grand Mausoleum would not seek after them. Before setting out for the necropolis in the morning the party was intrigued by a merchant named Hassan El’-Jebla. Aiuxanae spun her feminine web and Hassan took the Black Widow’s bait. Hassan sold the party five healing potions for 125 gp which was half price. Absolutely unheard of and of course the Black Widow had Hallnar and others pay for the potions. Hassan made an agreement with the group concerning the half price deal that he should get the first opportunity to purchase relics from the necropolis that the group brings back. The next morning the group went to the Tomb of Akhentepi. Boki’s knowledge proved invaluable to The Bones Brigade and he helped to offset many traps and identify the weaknesses of creatures within the underground structure serving as the great war General Akhentepi’s tomb. Hallnar discovered three animated statuettes named Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego. They found him strange and amusing and intend on sticking around with him. Narmer took the lead as the group explored and discovered some interesting things about the general. Aiuxanae netted an Iron Cobra in Akhentepi’s actual tomb and wanted to carry it out. Unfortunately the Iron Cobras were far too heavy to drag up the shaft back on the surface of Wati. Horus kept vigilant watch for the explorers and prevented any lurkers from gaining a tactical flank on The Bones Brigade. While leaving the Tomb of Akhentepi the group made notes, maps, and charcoal rubbings on papyrus in order to bring light of the General and his life.
